How long will I be without power and can I still live in my home?
A house rewire can be a significant undertaking, but you can still live in your home during the process. We will restore power in the evenings for lighting and basic socket use. However, please be aware that there will be no power supply throughout the day. Expect some dust and noise as we install new cables into the walls, floors, and ceilings. Some of our clients choose to go on holiday or temporarily move out while the work is being done, but this decision is entirely up to you. Rest assured, you can continue to live in your home during the rewire.
House Rewiring Process:
- Initial assessment & EICR: At this stage, we will conduct a full EICR to determine if you need a house rewire. We can provide a transparent and detailed quote outlining the full cost and completion date.
- Planning & chasing (“first fix”): This is the time to plan where you want your new sockets and switches. During this time, you will find us under your floorboards and in a dusty cupboard under the stairs where your hoover lives. We begin to chase cables throughout your entire home.
- Installation of new sockets, switches and lighting (“second fix”): We start connecting the newly installed cables to their respective accessories, including switches, lighting fixtures, and wall sockets.
- Final testing and certification (EIC, building regs compliance): This aspect is often overlooked but provides total peace of mind. Once your new electrical system is installed, we fully test and give a EIC certificate stating that your new electrical installation is fully certified and complies with todays building regulations.
